Forest fires in Spain have already burned more than 295,720 hectares since the beginning of the year, representing 45% of all burned areas in the European Union. The data was released this Friday by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO).
The report indicates that 43 large fires were recorded in the country during this period. This situation places Spain as the most affected country in the European Union in terms of forest area destroyed by fires.
MITECO is the entity responsible for collecting and disseminating these statistical data on the situation of forest fires in Spanish territory. The severity of the situation highlights the magnitude of the challenge the country faces in terms of fire prevention and firefighting.
