Santo Tirso proceeded with the removal of 270 hectares from the National Ecological Reserve, in a new delimitation that was approved by the competent authorities. CCDR Norte and APA validated this alteration to the REN in the municipality.
The areas removed are intended for the expansion of economic activities in the territory. This decision comes in the context of a new spatial planning that aims to facilitate local economic development.
At the same time, the excluded hectares include zones for urban consolidation. This approach allows the municipality to have more space for urbanization projects and territorial growth.
