After nearly eight hours of debate in Parliament, the motion of censure presented by Chega against Minister Luís Neves was rejected, maintaining him in office. The parliamentary session lasted practically an entire day, with parties voting mostly against the motion.
Commentator Pedro Adão e Silva analyzed the outcome of the vote, stating that "in a way, everyone won the day". This assessment suggests that, although the motion was rejected, different political forces will have drawn some advantage from the process.
Luís Neves, who remained as minister after the motion was defeated, was the main target of Chega's censure. The far-right party attempted to topple the government member through this parliamentary instrument, but did not obtain the necessary votes for its approval.
