Indonesian authorities resumed today rescue operations to locate a missing boat carrying eight people, including five journalists. The operation was announced by the Indonesian search and rescue agency, known as Basarnas.
The five journalists were covering the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, which became active in the region. The volcano, located in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra, is one of the most active in Indonesia.
The searches were resumed after a pause, according to Basarnas, which did not specify how long elapsed between operations. The agency did not reveal further details about the identity of the passengers or the conditions under which the boat is believed to have disappeared.
