Woman is arrested at Rio International Airport carrying three kilos of cocaine in cans

A 27-year-old woman, originally from Namibia, was arrested this Tuesday at Rio de Janeiro International Airport while trying to board a flight to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, in Africa, with a stopover in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

The arrest occurred during a joint operation between agents of the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service. The suspect was identified during a routine inspection, after exchange of intelligence information between the two institutions.

Federal police officers assigned to the PF specialized unit at Rio de Janeiro International Airport found three kilos of cocaine hidden in cans that were in the woman's luggage.

After the formalization of the arrest warrant, the suspect was referred to the state prison system, where she will remain at the disposal of the Justice. She will answer for the crime of international drug trafficking.
