A 27-year-old woman, a native of Namibia, was arrested on Tuesday at Rio de Janeiro International Airport with three kilos of cocaine hidden in cans inside her luggage. The arrest took place during a joint operation between agents of the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue.
The suspect was trying to board a flight that would make a stopover in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, bound for Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, on the African continent. The arrest was the result of a routine inspection combined with the exchange of intelligence information between the agencies.
Federal police officers assigned to the Special Delegation of the PF at Rio de Janeiro International Airport identified the drug after analyzing the suspect's luggage. After the formal arrest report was completed, the woman was transferred to the prison system, where she will remain at the disposal of the courts.
