Walace Andrade de Oliveira was convicted by the court of the 17th Criminal Court of the Capital to a sentence of 39 years and four months in prison. He was accused of participating in the shooting death of civil police officer João Pedro Marquini Santana, who worked at the Special Resources Coordination (Core), and of an attempted robbery leading to homicide against the officer's wife, the presiding judge of the 3rd Criminal Court of the Capital, Tula Corrêa de Mello, who survived the attack.
The crime happened on March 30, 2025, during the night, on Grota Funda Road, in Vargem Grande, in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. On that occasion, a group of criminals set up a fake checkpoint on the road, where the couple was returning home in separate cars.
The civil police officer, who was driving in the vehicle ahead, was hit at the scene by rifle fire fired by the criminals. The judge, who was following in a separate car right behind, was also targeted in the attack, but managed to survive.
