Angola intends to include its currency, the kwanza, in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) payment system, an initiative that aims to reduce dependence on third-party currencies and simplify foreign exchange operations associated with trade and investment in the region.
The intention was announced by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, who emphasized that this measure will allow Angolan companies to carry out commercial transactions more efficiently within the regional bloc.
The inclusion of the kwanza in the SADC payment system comes as part of a broader strategy by the Angolan Executive to strengthen regional economic integration and promote the use of local currencies in commercial exchanges between member countries of the organization.
With this initiative, Angola aims to facilitate intraregional trade and reduce costs associated with international transactions, benefiting both investors and companies operating in the Southern African region.
