Pedro Emanuel's Vasco confirmed the expectation and announced an alternative lineup for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Sul-Americana against Santa Fé. The match will be played at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín stadium, in Bogotá, Colombia. The coach made several changes to the team, from the center of defense, with Saldivia and Lucas Freitas, to the attack, with the return of Marino and Nuno Moreira.
The complete lineup was: Léo Jardim; Puma Rodríguez, Saldivia, Lucas Freitas and Lucas Piton; Cauan Barros, Ramon Rique and Rojas; Nuno Moreira, Marino Hinestroza and Spinelli, under the command of Pedro Emanuel.
Several important players did not travel to Colombia. Andrés Gómez, Adson and Cuesta were rested, Thiago Mendes is suspended and Colidio was not registered for the competition. The decision to rest starters indicates that the continental tournament became a lower priority, amid the disputes in the Copa do Brasil and the Brazilian Championship.
In the first five rounds of the group stage, Vasco had already used less than half of the main names in the squad, achieving two wins, one draw and two defeats.
