Portugal suffered its first elimination at the 2024 ISA Junior World Championship (International Surfing Association). Surfer Vida Mendonça was eliminated in round 2 of the Under-16 female category, failing to advance to the next phase of the competition.
The Portuguese athlete faced difficulties during her performance in this decisive round, which resulted in her premature exit from the championship. This was the first elimination of a Portuguese representative in this edition of the ISA Junior World Championship.
The ISA Junior World Championship is one of the most important competitions in the international junior surfing calendar, bringing together young talents from various countries. Portugal has a tradition in this sport and usually sends competitive athletes to this event.
With the elimination of Vida Mendonça, Portugal loses one of its representatives in the Under-16 female category, with now only the performance of the remaining Portuguese athletes who are still in competition in the other categories of the championship to follow.
