The duplication of the expressway between Ribeira Brava and Calheta will be the second largest project of the next decade in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, right after the construction of the new Central and University Hospital of Madeira. The statement was made by Pedro Rodrigues, Regional Secretary of Equipment and Infrastructure.
The declaration took place during the solemn session commemorating the 525 years of Ponta do Sol, an event that was attended by several local authorities from the region.
Among the local authorities present were Doroteia Leça, president of the Municipal Chamber of Calheta, and Jorge Santos, president of the Municipal Chamber of Ribeira Brava, the two municipalities that will be directly affected by this road intervention.
The government official revealed that this project represents a strategic priority for the region, although the article is interrupted before presenting more details about the project.
