The first debate on the motion of censure against Luís Montenegro's Government ended with the rejection of the motion, in an atmosphere marked by strong confrontations between parties. The Socialist Party (PS) chose to abstain, while Chega shouted "resignation" against the Executive during the voting.
The Government managed to unite to stop the largest opposition parties, demonstrating internal cohesion in the face of received criticism. This unity was seen as a sign of strength of the executive against the opposition's attacks.
Luís Montenegro took the opportunity to make important announcements, revealing a reduction in IRS and the implementation of a bonus for pensioners. These announcements came in the context of the debate on the motion of censure, at a time when the Prime Minister was seeking to demonstrate his government's actions.
