Gasoline had the biggest increase in three years

Eco8 September 2026 at 20:18

Fuels in Portugal recorded significant increases, with gasoline rising eight cents per liter — the biggest increase in more than three years, since July 2023 — and diesel increasing 7.5 cents, the biggest since July this year. Initially, ACP estimated increases of 12 cents for gasoline and 15 cents for diesel, but the impact was softened by the update to government support. Since the attack on Iran

Portugal joins United Kingdom and ten other countries that will ban trade with Israeli settlements

Portugal joined 11 other countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Ireland, in a coordinated sanctions action against illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, prohibiting the import of goods produced in these territories. The United Kingdom officially declared that the Israeli occupation in the West Bank is illegal under international law, with the British Foreign Secretary, Ed Miliband, accusing Israel of attempting "ethnic cleansing" against Palestinians. Israel responded by announcing the closure of the British consulate in Jerusalem and excluding the United Kingdom from the US-led mission to Gaza, with Minister Gideon Saar accusing the British of "scandalous lies". The joint statement from the 12 countries alerts to the deterioration of the situation in the West Bank, with unprecedented levels of settler violence and settlement expansion, calling on Israel to cease these practices. The sanctions also include restrictions on financing services for expansion, sanctions on violent individuals and review of weapons exports.
