Wind forces cancellation of 11 flights at Madeira Airport

SAPO Notícias8 September 2026 at 19:20

At least 11 flights were cancelled this Tuesday at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, due to strong wind that conditioned movement at the airfield. The count was made at 6 PM and included six arrivals and five departures cancelled. The strong wind was the direct cause of the cancellations, affecting both passengers arriving on the island and those wishing to leave. This situation once again demonstrated Madeira Airport's vulnerability to adverse weather conditions, particularly wind, which frequently leads to the cancellation or diversion of flights.
