Senator and presidential candidateFlávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) defended on Tuesday the removal of the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues. The request was made after a decision by Minister André Mendonça of the Supreme Court (STF), which pointed to the illegal monitoring of Andrei's activities.
Flávio Bolsonaro stated that a supposed 'Lula special group' within the corporation was 'officially exposed.' The senator used terms such as 'companion, comrade, friend, brother, buddy, sidekick, partner, ally, representative, Lula's lackey' to refer to the Federal Police chief.
The statement was accompanied by an offensive by members of the campaign and allies of the presidential candidate in defense of Minister André Mendonça and against the Federal Police leadership, Alexandre de Moraes, and the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
Andrei Rodrigues was accused of leading clandestine investigations against a Supreme Court minister. On the occasion,Flávio Bolsonaro asked that the Federal Police regain autonomy to investigate criminals, not political opponents.
