In an interview conducted by GLOBO, Extra, Valor newspapers and CBN radio with candidates for governor of Rio, Douglas Ruas (PL), president of the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj), sought to associate his opponent Eduardo Paes (PSD) with politicians involved with organized crime in his party alliance. The interview, which started at 10:30 a.m. and lasted 90 minutes, was broadcast live on the radio, on the newspapers' websites and on YouTube.
Ruas sought to present himself as a representative of "change," even being from the same party and having been secretary in the Cláudio Castro (PL) administration, the current governor who failed to get re-elected. The candidate tried to distance himself from his allies of recent years, including the former governor and the expelled deputy Rodrigo Bacellar, from União Brasil.
Before being a candidate for governor, Ruas had expressed support for Cláudio Castro and Bacellar. The interview was part of a series of interviews with candidates for governor of Rio.
