Angola carried out today its first robotic kidney surgeries at the Cardeal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex (CHDCP), in Luanda, marking a historic milestone in Angolan medicine. The operations are being carried out by a team of national doctors, under the supervision of a Brazilian robotic surgeon.
The Brazilian team plans to operate on a total of 13 patients by Friday, in an effort to demonstrate and consolidate the capacity of Angolan professionals in performing robotic procedures. This initiative represents a significant investment in the training and development of advanced medical skills in the country.
The first patient to be operated on was Kafumana, 52 years old, who had been suffering from a kidney problem for two years. Kafumana reported in an interview that he had problems with hematuria, which led to his inclusion in the robotic surgery program.
