SAPO Notícias8 September 2026 at 16:54

The Council of Ministers approved the second stage of the development of AMALIA, Portugal's national artificial intelligence model. This new phase represents a significant expansion of the system's capabilities.

AMALIA will now have text, voice and image functionalities, no longer being limited to a single modality. This update positions Portuguese artificial intelligence at a more advanced level of development.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to position Portugal in the international artificial intelligence landscape, taking advantage of the fact that Portuguese is a globally relevant language.
