The Recreational and Sports Association of Calvos inaugurated a new synthetic turf, in an intervention fully supported by the Municipality of Guimarães. The ceremony was attended by the mayor, Ricardo Araújo, the councilor for Sports, Alberto Martins, the president of the Parish Council of Calvos, Filipe Lopes, and the president of the association, Eugénio Daniel.
During the inauguration, Ricardo Araújo highlighted that the new equipment represents better conditions for sports practice, health and quality of life, as well as allowing the association to continue to train, mobilize and build community. The mayor also stressed the importance of ensuring quality conditions throughout the municipal territory, stating that he intends to have a municipality where no parish is left behind.
For Filipe Lopes, the inauguration represented the fulfillment of an old ambition and an investment in the quality of life of the population of Calvos, having highlighted the partnership established with the Municipality for the completion of the intervention. Eugénio Daniel described the moment as a day of enormous joy for the parish and for the association.
The occasion was also marked by the awarding of the Medal of Honour of the Parish of Calvos to Ricardo Araújo, during the commemorative session of the first Parish Day, in recognition of his contribution to the community.
