Aveirense with 'very eclectic programming and without prejudice'

NotíciasdeAveiro.pt8 September 2026 at 16:40

The president of Aveiro City Council presented the agenda for the last four months of the year for the Teatro Aveirense, highlighting programming that is "very eclectic and without prejudice," open to a diversity of audiences without hang-ups. The mayor also guaranteed that the theater stands out for its demanding standards and quality.

Before the summer break, the municipality's main auditorium sold out for two nights with a "revue theater" production starring João Baião. The Autumn programming includes lesser-known Brazilian groups for the general public through the touring project "All Are Stage – Theater Showcase Beyond the Equator," the premiere of the show "The Housing Problem" by Jorge Louraço Figueira, operettas by the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna, and new dance productions.

The director of the Teatro Aveirense and municipal cultural coordinator, Leonor Barata, emphasized that cultural spaces are not isolated from the discussion of major issues, assuming an intense program, open to all audiences, with opportunities for local structures and for children.

The association with the Autumn Festivals event, organized by the University of Aveiro, and the new edition of the Prisma Festival are other highlights for the end of the year. The programming maintains bookings scheduled since the term of former director José Pina, currently serving in cultural management roles at the Intermunicipal Community of the Aveiro Region and at the Cineteatro de Estarreja.
