The DANCE DANCE DANCE Festival returns to Teatro das Figuras in Faro from September 9 to 26, bringing the Algarve a program that brings together emerging and established dance artists. The festival kicks off on September 9 with the piece Baubo, directed and choreographed by Sofia Brito, developed as part of the Artist-Mother project that explores the archetype of the wild woman through a collective of women, artists, and mothers, with performances by Alexa Papa, Bárbara Ramos, Sara Martins, and Sofia Brito.
On September 12, the show Wonderlandi takes to the stage, with concept and choreography by Lander Patrick, which proposes an itinerary centered on music as a subjective manifestation capable of activating states of mind. The performance features eight performers. On September 19, at 9:30 PM, Greek choreographer and performer Despina Sanida Crezia premieres Off, Off, a work that explores remix, bootleg, and fandom culture, questioning the value of authorship and originality in the art industry.
On September 23, Teatro das Figuras hosts Grupo Impacto, a Brazilian project founded 30 years ago by a group of teenagers in situations of social vulnerability who became professionals in 2009. The show Baobás explores the beliefs, strength, and roots that define the Brazilian people.
The festival closes on September 26, at 9:30 PM, with André Uerba and the performance Affective Choreography, the result of an investigation into structures and practices of intimacy involving community members who participated in an antecedent workshop. Tickets are available at the theater box office and online.
