The researchers Marco Freitas and Joana Santos, from CEAM – Center for Modern Archaeology Studies, participated during the month of August in the latest archaeological campaign of the Aigina Harbour City Project. This is an international maritime archaeology project developed on the Greek island of Aegina.
The two Madeiran researchers accepted the invitation directed to them by the international team responsible for the project. Their participation in this campaign represents a collaboration between specialists from different countries in the study of maritime archaeology.
The Aigina Harbour City Project aims to investigate and document the underwater heritage of the island of Aegina, contributing to the knowledge of the port history of the Mediterranean region. The project site is associated with the UNESCO Chair in Integrated Coastal Zone Management.
