Hugo Soares, the parliamentary leader, stated on Tuesday, during the debate on the motion of censure, his perplexity at the fact that André Ventura never mentions the incident of invasion of his office in the Assembly of the Republic. "What leaves me curious is that I never hear you talk about a robbery in a sovereign body, at your office," Soares stated, emphasizing that the Chega leader never refers to this circumstance. The parliamentary leader also considered that the motion of censure presented is almost a motion of confidence in the Government, leaving a popular saying for André Ventura: "Who distrusts can never be trusted".
On the morning of July 28, André Ventura posted a video on social media claiming that his office in the Assembly of the Republic had been invaded and rummaged through, having indicated that the office would not have been locked. Subsequently, the Chega leader indicated that documents related to the prime minister and to the inquiry committee on the mandates of Luís Neves, as director of the Judicial Police, which the party proposed to create, had disappeared.
After Hugo Soares' intervention, Paulo Pinto made an address to the chair referring to André Ventura's statements about the fact that Chega had become an assisting party in the process relating to the incident in the office of the party leader.
The attorney general, Amadeu Guerra, revealed on September 3 that the Public Prosecutor's Office investigation into the alleged invasion and theft in André Ventura's office in parliament is urgent. Questioned by the Lus news agency after the swearing-in of the president and judges of the Évora Court of Appeal, the PGR only added that the case "is urgent, processed with urgency".
