The Intermunicipal Community of Beira Baixa met with Paulo Fernandes, coordinator of the Mission Structure for the Reconstruction of the Central Region, to coordinate the application of approved funds for reconstruction after Storm Kristin. The meeting allowed for aligning the financing access strategy and ensuring the financial viability of recovery works in the region.

Beira Baixa submitted a total of 2,272 applications, corresponding to 74.33 million euros in reported damages. Of this amount, authorities have already approved 57.34 million euros. Sertã leads in volume of cases with 1,136 applications, while Idanha-a-Nova records the highest financial impact with 23.01 million euros validated. For primary permanent residences, the approval rate stands at 62.5%, with 1,420 applications already validated.

The Municipal Emergency Fund will finance up to 60% of the repair of damaged public infrastructures, with a submission deadline of November 30. The remaining 40% will be secured through a credit line from the European Investment Bank, avoiding financial breakdown of the municipalities.

João Lobo, President of the Intermunicipal Council of CIM Beira Baixa, highlighted that the numbers reflect the work of the municipalities with the affected populations and recalled the commitment of the eight municipalities to finalize the processes within the established timeframe.
