DeepMind group, belonging to Google, developed an atlas that uses artificial intelligence to predict the effects of genetic variations in the human genome. The tool analyzes the so-called DNA "letters," which are the fundamental units of genetic information.
The atlas is capable of predicting the effect of approximately 9 billion mutations, which represents all possible letter swaps in human DNA. This comprehensive scale allows researchers to study a massive number of genetic variations at once.
However, the predictions generated by the system are only computational predictions and do not correspond to measurements obtained through laboratory experiments. Therefore, results should be interpreted with caution and validated by traditional experimental methods.
