The Municipal Market of Foz Côa received on Saturday, September 5th, another edition of the "Doce Tradição" Market, dedicated to dried figs, considered one of the most emblematic products of the territory. The initiative brought together flavors, memories, and traditions, valuing local products and the work of people who continue to preserve the knowledge associated with the identity of the municipality.
Among the highlights of the morning was the Fig Flower Liqueur, produced by Paula Ferreira, whose recipe had a charitable component, with all proceeds going to CoAnimal – Animal Protection Association. The public also had the opportunity to discover an Artisanal Dried Fig Ice Cream, inspired by a family story linked to Quinta de Ervamoira and the memories and flavors of other generations.
The initiative was hosted by Mafalda Araújo Ferreira, who guided the different moments of the program, and featured the participation of Carminho Anunciação Pires, who gave voice to the poem "The Fig of Foz Côa," adding a cultural component to the celebration.
Producers, exhibitors, partners, and visitors came together for a morning dedicated to valuing the gastronomic and cultural heritage of Foz Côa, demonstrating that preserving traditional products is also preserving the memory and identity of a territory.
