The Fluvial Beach of the Nautical Activities Centre in Odeleite, in the municipality of Castro Marim, will remain open for swimming until September 30, although lifeguard surveillance has already ended. Since Monday, the 7th, the space has been classified as an "unsupervised" beach, meaning swimmers can no longer count on the presence of rescue professionals.
The continuation of the opening results from a partnership established between the Municipality of Castro Marim and the entity that operates the local bar. However, this agreement does not include the rescue service, so the use of the space will now take place under different conditions than before. The town hall appeals for "maximum attention" when using the floating pools and the delimited swimming area.
Despite the end of surveillance, the operator of the bar will be responsible for cleaning and opening the bathrooms during this additional period. The beach is located at the Odeleite Dam reservoir, in the interior of the Algarve.
This year, Odeleite stood out by receiving the Blue Flag, being the only inland bathing area in the Algarve to obtain this distinction during the summer, coinciding with the year of its official recognition.
