PL candidate for governor of Rio de Janeiro, Douglas Ruas, participated in a debate held by radio station CBN, in partnership with newspapers O Globo, Extra and Valor. In the debate, he commented on his proposals for the state's public security.
Ruas defended that, after police operations in communities, the state government should carry out a large occupation of the territory. When commenting on the operations in Alemão and Penha, which resulted in over 100 dead, he stated that "nothing changed" and that "the great mistake of the state that day was not remaining".
The candidate emphasized that organized crime should not command any territory in the state and that who should be present was the state as a whole, including the city hall with its social services, health and education, in addition to the security forces.
Among Ruas's proposals for public security, the defense of police officers stands out. According to him, an adjunct position in the security area will be created, among other measures to strengthen police work in the state.
