Government praises "vision for the future" and "form of delivery" of the Countess of Penha Longa Foundation on its 150th anniversary

The government praised the "vision for the future" and "form of delivery" of the Countess of Penha Longa Foundation on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. State Secretaries highlighted the institution's social and educational legacy during the celebrations.

The foundation received the Municipal Merit Medal, gold degree, as recognition for the work developed over more than a century and a half of existence.

The institution will also be the subject of a tribute by the Municipal Assembly of Oliveira de Azeméis, reinforcing the regional importance of the foundation for the community.

The anniversary celebrations brought together government representatives who underscored the lasting impact of the foundation in the social and educational areas.

The president of the Intermunicipal Community of the Leiria Region, Jorge Vala, considered the maximum support of 60% from the Municipal Emergency Fund for the municipalities affected by the storms at the beginning of the year "manifestly insufficient," arguing that this amount should be increased to 85% or 100%, as has happened in other situations. The mayor also expressed concern that significant investments in civil protection, such as the removal of waste and woody material costing over nine million euros, are not covered by the available support.
