The Supreme Federal Court (STF) is holding a virtual session to vote on Minister André Mendonça's decision to remove the Federal Police director-general, Andrei Rodrigues, from his position. The vote takes place between 10am and 11:59pm this Tuesday (8). The decision also removes delegate Leandro Almada da Costa, Federal Police director of police intelligence.
Mendonça's decision is divided into three main parts. First, the minister questions the technical quality and legality of the intelligence reports used in the case. Second, he states he was targeted by monitoring and directed collection of information by Federal Police intelligence. Finally, he determines a series of measures to investigate the production of these documents and prevent further such actions.
Regarding the intelligence reports, Mendonça states there are technical problems and possible illegalities in the preparation of the material. The minister highlights that the document itself is classified as restricted dissemination, defined as a working document with no evidentiary value. According to Mendonça, the technical fragility of the reports would be so significant that it would compromise their use as a basis for any decisions.
