The OECD identified significant changes in adolescents' habits that explain the decline in PISA 2025 results. Among the main factors are the decrease in time dedicated to reading, the increase in mobile phone use and less effort on the part of students.
Portugal follows this trend of deteriorating results, with declines particularly visible in Mathematics and Reading. The country thus follows the pattern observed internationally.
