Minister André Mendonça of the Supreme Federal Court removed the Federal Police director-general, Andrei Rodrigues, from his position. The decision also includes the PF intelligence director, Leandro Almada. According to the decision, the removal was ordered so that there would be no legal embarrassment for court members, PF servers, and Jorge Messias, the attorney general.
André Mendonça recently stated that he had been monitored by the Federal Police for over a month. This decision by the minister comes after Alexandre de Moraes used police reports to accuse Mendonça of abuse of authority, administrative impropriety, and crimes of responsibility in cases involving Banco Master and INSS.
Mendonça also requested that the STF's second chamber hold an extraordinary virtual session on Tuesday, from 10 AM to 11:59 PM, so that the ministers could analyze and ratify the removal decision. The virtual chamber was placed under the responsibility of the STF president, Minister Edson Fachin.
