Goalkeeper Vozinha, star of Cape Verde at the 2026 World Cup, has been nominated for the 2026 Ballon d'Or Yashin Trophy, an award presented to the best goalkeeper in the world for the past season. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 26, in London, England.
In addition to Vozinha, nine other goalkeepers are competing for the award. Among the main names are Unai Simón, World Cup champion with Spain and voted best goalkeeper of the tournament, Dibu Martínez, star of Argentina, and Matvey Safonov, champion of the Intercontinental Cup and Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain.
The complete list of nominees includes Yassine Bounou (Al-Hilal/Morocco), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid/Belgium), Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund/Switzerland), Joan García (Barcelona/Spain), Édouard Mendy (Al-Ahli/Senegal), Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa and Chelsea/Argentina), David Raya (Arsenal/Spain), in addition to Vozinha, who plays for GD Chaves and Colo-Colo.
