Porto determines "urgent felling" of 19 trees on Aliados

Observador8 September 2026 at 12:55

The Porto City Council ordered the urgent felling of 19 trees on Avenida dos Aliados, one of the main arteries of the city. The decision was made after a technical analysis carried out following the fall of a tree in August.

The municipality justified the measure with the vegetative development of the trees that it considered "unsatisfactory". The technical evaluation identified problems that led to the determination of the urgent felling of these trees.

The municipality of Porto now promises to proceed with the renewal of the tree cover on Avenida dos Aliados, replacing the removed trees with new ones. The implementation of a regular monitoring system for trees in the area is also planned.
