Bernie Ecclestone, former boss and CEO of Formula 1, was arrested at Tires Aerodrome, in Portugal, when he landed from a private jet. The arrest occurred as part of a routine operation carried out by Portuguese authorities.
During the search of Ecclestone's luggage and belongings, a shotgun was found in his possession. The former Formula 1 executive was immediately intercepted by authorities after the private flight landed.
Ecclestone, who is 93 years old, was subsequently heard by authorities and was subject to an Identity and Residence Statement. No further information was disclosed about the outcome of the interrogation or about any possible formal charges.
