The Municipality of Aguiar da Beira will maintain, for the 2026/2027 school year, a comprehensive set of education support measures, which include free meals and school transport, access to Escola Virtual and support for the acquisition of materials. The measures cover different levels of education and aim to support families, reduce the expenses associated with school attendance and provide better learning conditions for children and young people in the municipality.
In pre-school and primary education (1st cycle), the council provides free meals, milk and fruit, as well as school transport. In pre-school, support for extended hours after the end of classes is also guaranteed, and family support and childcare activities are promoted. Primary school students benefit from full reimbursement of activity books and have access to Curricular Enrichment Activities in music, information and communication technologies, arts, dance, theatre, sports and leisure.
The municipal support also includes specialized music education, through initiation courses in the 4th year and articulated teaching in the 2nd and 3rd cycles. Students in the 1st and 2nd cycles have free access to Escola Virtual, and swimming lessons during school hours and support for field trips are also provided. Throughout their educational journey, students benefit from free passes on public transport in the Intermunicipal Community of Viseu Dão Lafões area.
The council also awards school merit prizes and a monetary prize to support entry into higher education. With these measures, the Municipality of Aguiar da Beira aims to strengthen support for families, promote equal opportunities and consider the full range of support as an investment in education and the territory.
