Around 70 animals were rescued in inadequate hygiene conditions in the city of Setúbal. The rescue involved dogs, cats, birds and other small animals that were found in situations of abuse or abandonment.
Local authorities were alerted to the precarious conditions in which the animals were living. A rescue operation was then launched to remove the animals from the location and ensure their well-being.
The rescued animals received veterinary care and were taken to appropriate facilities where they can be treated and, subsequently, rehomed or made available for responsible adoption.
This case once again highlights the need for animal protection and the importance of reporting situations of negligence to the relevant authorities.
