The former prime minister José Sócrates presented a complaint against prosecutor Jorge Rosário Teixeira, involved in Operation Marquês. The complaint alleges that the prosecutor gave false testimony in court.
According to the accusation, Jorge Rosário Teixeira gave a false testimony about the contacts he maintained with journalists before the arrest of José Sócrates, which occurred in 2014.
Operation Marquês is one of the most media-covered judicial processes in Portugal, involving accusations of corruption, tax fraud and money laundering against the former prime minister.
With this complaint, Sócrates' defense seeks to question the credibility of one of the elements of the Public Ministry that participated in the process against him.
