The results of students from 225 Portuguese schools have significantly worsened, falling back to levels similar to those observed in 2006 in Mathematics, Reading, and Science.
This setback places the academic performance of Portuguese students at a level corresponding to the beginning of the 21st century, representing a significant decline compared to more recent results.
The schools covered by this assessment represent a relevant sample of the education system in Portugal, where the three subject areas evaluated show decline.
The data indicate a worrying trend of deterioration in educational quality in the country, with students presenting performance levels not recorded for almost two decades.
