Two men were detained in Espinho for simulating security checks, pretending to be Judicial Police inspectors, to steal money, mobile phones and jewelry from victims on the public street. The operation was carried out by the Public Security Police of Espinho.
The suspects approached victims on the street, presenting themselves as PJ inspectors and claiming to be conducting security searches. Taking advantage of the authority they simulated having, they managed to convince people to hand over their belongings.
With this method, the two men managed to steal money, mobile phones and jewelry from the victims they selected. The way they impersonated authorities allowed them to act without raising initial suspicions.
The authorities managed to identify and detain the two suspects, putting an end to the criminal activity that was taking place in Espinho. The case draws attention to the need for vigilance on the part of citizens when approached on the public street.
