Luís Neves attended a parliamentary hearing before the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Liberties and Guarantees to clarify his political situation. During the hearing, the official guaranteed that he has no intention of stepping away from the position.

The president of the Authority for the Prevention and Combating of Torture stated that he will only leave the position when the prime minister, Luís Montenegro, deems it appropriate. Neves recognized that his remaining depends "naturally" on the will of the head of Government.

The hearing takes place in a context of political tension surrounding the position held by Luís Neves. The prime minister had indicated that he intended to proceed with a reshuffle in the position.

During the parliamentary questioning, Luís Neves sought to demonstrate that there are no reasons for his departure, defending the legality and continuity of his work at the head of the Authority.
