Rui Costa rolls up his sleeves and wants to renew contracts with 4 star players of Benfica in the coming weeks

Glorioso 1904 – Se é notícia do Benfica, está aqui8 September 2026 at 11:10

With the transfer market closed, Benfica's board led by Rui Costa has turned all attention to renewing the contracts of four players considered fundamental to the club's sporting project. The Eagles' SAD intends to move quickly forward with the revision and extension of the contracts of Anatoliy Trubin, Samuel Soares, Andreas Schjelderup and Gianluca Prestianni.

Regarding the goal, the goalkeeping duo, whose contracts expire in 2028, will see their respective dossiers reassessed shortly. Samuel Soares is expected to see his status reinforced with a significant salary improvement, while Trubin's situation is still in the negotiation phase with the club's structure.

The most complex dossier on the Benfica president's table is that of Norwegian winger Andreas Schjelderup. Benfica is offering a renewal until 2030 with a substantial salary increase, however the player has shown some resistance in accepting the proposal presented by the club.

In the opposite direction comes young Gianluca Prestianni, who will be duly rewarded for his blazing start to the season wearing the colors of the Glorioso. The Argentine winger has been one of the main attacking references of the team and deserves to be recognized for his contribution.
