Volkswagen agrees to possible sale of a German plant to convert it into an armament factory

The German automotive group Volkswagen will sell the factory in Osnabrück, Germany. The company reached an agreement to carry out this sale, which aims to transform the industrial unit into an armament factory.

The new factory will produce armament for Germany and for Europe. This armament production is part of the efforts to strengthen European defense capabilities.

The main objective of this sale is to guarantee the majority of existing jobs at the factory in the long term. The transformation of the unit allows for ensuring the professional future of the workers.

The agreement represents a significant change for the Osnabrück unit, which will cease producing vehicles to dedicate itself to the manufacturing of defense material.
