Nearly half of Brazilian 15-year-old students use Artificial Intelligence tools to learn. This data was revealed by the Programme for International Student Assessment, known as PISA, which evaluated for the first time the use of generative AI in school routines. The survey showed that 48% of students in Brazil use platforms such as ChatGPT at least once a week, a rate slightly higher than the average of 46% recorded among OECD member countries. Only 11% of Brazilian students reported never using the technology for academic activities.
Among the ways AI is used, the habit of requesting summaries of school readings reaches 31% of students in Brazil, practically tied with the rate observed in developed countries. On the other hand, for writing entire essays from start to finish, the national percentage stands at 27%, below the 29% recorded in more developed nations.
The report also pointed out that 81% of Brazilian students attend schools that have some type of ban on cell phone use, a significant increase compared to the 37% recorded in 2022.
