The Spanish publishing miracle is heading towards a new record, with projected invoicing of 1.3 billion euros in 2026. The book sector celebrates itself with historical numbers and constantly rising graphs. Everything rises, from the number of copies sold to their prices, passing through bookstore invoicing and hours of Internet connection related to books or reading.
These data appear in a paradoxical context: the PISA report results alert to an alarming decline in reading comprehension globally, and artificial intelligence threatens to transform the entire sector. Despite these challenges, the Spanish publishing market continues to soar.
Since the pandemic, market growth has been consistent and continuous. "We continue to grow on growth," highlighted Ignacio López, head of Market Intelligence at GfK, during the first session of the Forum Edita. The sector thus demonstrates remarkable resilience against external threats and transformations in the reading landscape.
