The fuels in Portugal reached historic highs, causing consumer protests and leading many Portuguese to cross the border to Spain to refuel, seeking lower prices in the neighboring country.
The situation is generating strong social pressure, with drivers opting for the so-called "exodus" to Spain as an alternative to save on fuel costs.
The Minister of Environment and Energy commented on the situation, indicating that the increase in fuel prices follows the trend observed throughout the European continent.
The person responsible for the sector also dismissed the idea that the government is profiting from the current energy crisis, emphasizing that the price increase does not result from internal measures, but rather from external factors affecting the European energy market.
