Benfica officially announced the departure of Belgian forward Jelani Trevisan, 21 years old, to the Romanians of CFR Cluj. The eagles informed that they reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of the player, without disclosing the transfer values. The striker had represented the club from Luz since 2022.
Trevisan was the top scorer of Benfica's B team last season, having scored seven goals in 27 games for the secondary team in Liga 2. The young Belgian even was called up by José Mourinho to train with the first team, demonstrating his potential.
At Cluj, Trevisan will be a teammate of Portuguese player Simão Rocha and will play for the 11th-placed team in the Romanian championship. Benfica wished the player success in this new challenge and happiness in his personal life.
The forward was linked to Schalke during the summer market. The German club, which recently returned to the Bundesliga, established contacts with the player's representatives to learn the conditions of a possible agreement, which ultimately did not materialize.
