Nike will leave the S&P 100 starting September 21, 18 years after entering the U.S. stock market index, the index manager confirmed. This exit comes at a time when the sportswear company has lost more than 39% since the beginning of the year. Following the same path are Honeywell Aerospace, Simon Property Group and Colgate-Palmolive, while Dell, Palo Alto Networks, Arista Networks and SanDisk are entering.
The S&P 100 brings together the 100 largest listed companies in the United States. The new entries include Dell in the technology sector, SanDisk which develops and produces memory semiconductors, Palo Alto Networks in the cybersecurity sector, and Arista Networks which operates in areas such as data centers and artificial intelligence. All of these companies are having a year of strong stock market gains.
Regarding stock market performance, Dell gained more than 310% since the beginning of the year, SanDisk rose more than 532%, Palo Alto Networks gained more than 85%, and Arista Networks rose 45%. In the case of the departing companies, Honeywell Aerospace fell more than 19%, Simon Property Group rose more than 13%, and Colgate-Palmolive rose more than 14%.
Despite leaving the S&P 100, Nike will remain in the S&P 500, the index that brings together the 500 largest listed companies in the United States.
