More than 1,700 pregnant women or people on parental leave did not see their contracts renewed in 2025, according to data now released.

The figures were presented by the Commission for Equality between Women and Men of CGTP-IN, a Portuguese trade union organization.

The release of this data took place on Tuesday, when the trade union commission raised awareness about this reality in the labor market.

The number of contracts not renewed represents a significant problem regarding the protection of pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding workers, as well as workers on parental leave.
