The teen series "A Copa das Favelas" (The Slum Cup) has entered the final phase of development and will be broadcast on TV Brasil. Created by the Carvalho Brothers, Marcos and Eduardo, the plot is set in Morro do Salgueiro, the community where the brothers were raised, and follows the local women's football team during the Slum Cup, the largest slum championship in the world.
At the center of the storyline are Lorrayne, the team's main player, and Denis, her father who abandoned her when she was a baby and who now reemerges as the athletes' coach. The story shows the need for father and daughter to learn to relate to each other before they can lead the team to victory in the championship.
The series was one of those selected earlier this year through the Seleção TV Brasil public notice, which chose projects for broadcast on the public network. The production is in the final phase of development and is expected to premiere soon on TV Brasil's schedule.
